Laughter ensued. (I also like to laugh when I practice yoga, just a little, every once in a while.)

The thing is, as I continue to grow and deepen my practice, I do like to challenge myself by doing yoga in silence and with my eyes closed as much as possible…and find that in L.A., silence itself is pretty much impossible. I am constantly aware that in shavasana at the Sunset studio – when the music generally goes softer, even in a Sweat class – there are honking horns, sirens, music blaring from the parking lot. At my home, it’s no different, except that I can add in barking dogs. We are never in silence in a big city, and so my task lately has been to try to block it all out. Interestingly, it is easier to clear my mind and find peace when music is playing at a steady level than when there is no music and the random noises of civilization intrude at will. It makes me a little sad that this is the case, but I appreciate the ODD playlists all the more for this reason! Thanks for your post.
