Get out of your head and into your voice.
Somatic Voice is a gentle, grounding practice that blends restorative yoga, breath awareness, and mindfulness with vocal exploration inspired by Naad Yoga—an ancient Indian metaphysical system rooted in the belief that the entire universe, including the human body, is composed of vibrations. Through sound, we can access healing, clarity, and spiritual connection.
In this workshop, you'll explore the intimate relationship between breath and voice, with a focus on the often-overlooked practices of toning and sounding. Through diaphragmatic breathing and simple vocal vibrations, you'll reconnect with your voice as a physical, felt experience—leaving class feeling grounded, relaxed, and more authentically expressed.
Led by singer-musicians Emmett Patton and Simha Garimella, this experience bridges creative and spiritual practices through the lens of yoga. Emmett brings deep experience in asana, while Simha offers wisdom from the tradition of Naad Yoga. Together, they invite you to play with the rich intersections of voice, body, and breath—and deepen your understanding of yoga beyond the physical postures.

Emmett Patton specialize in Hatha, Yin, and Restorative Yoga, blending mindful movement, breathwork, and meditation to help students experience yoga as a path to self-connection rather than just exercise.
Emmett's journey began in 2015 in San Francisco. In 2017, Emmett left a corporate career to complete a 200-hour teacher training at The Practice in Bali, later earning a 300-hour certification at Center for Yoga in Los Angeles, totaling 500 hours of study. After several years teaching in Boston while completing a songwriting degree from Berklee, Emmett returned to California to focus on two passions: yoga and music.
With 500 hours of yoga training, formal meditation practice, and degrees in psychology and music, Emmett draws on a unique mix of technical skill, creativity, and self-awareness to support others in self-discovery, growth, and conscious connection.
Simha Garimella is a soul/jazz singer, songwriter, music educator, and Naad Yoga practitioner from the Bay Area. Rooted in Hindustani classical music from a young age, Simha’s sound is a seamless blending of North Indian tradition with the expressive depth of jazz and soul. Drawing inspiration from artists like Sade, Stevie Wonder, and Kishori Amonkar, their music lives in the in-between — intimate, expansive, and always evolving.
Their foundation in voice is both spiritual and somatic. As a music educator, Simha centers the body, breath, and voice connection through somatic voice practices, creating space for others to explore their own sound with presence and intention.
With an EP already out and a debut album on the way, Simha is entering a new era — one that’s guided by community-building and a deepened sense of artistic purpose. Through collaboration, education, and performance, they use their voice not just to sing, but to speak on what matters: identity, belonging, and the power of sound as resistance.
