Odd Fact:
I am a dog person but I impulse-adopted a black cat who has extra thumbs. His name is Remy from the latin “remedium” meaning “medicine” or “cure.” I hoped that nicknaming him “REM Sleep” would manifest him sleeping through the night, but no luck yet.
My Class Style:
From vinyasa to strength training, my classes are intended as a tool for building a more closely connected and loving relationship with your body. You can expect “dancey” creative flows and cues for intuitive movement in my class. I believe there are no wrong movements, just movements we’re not prepared for. I will always encourage you to breathe into the corners, release what you no longer wish to carry and inhabit all of your space! I believe that moving, breathing and sweating can serve as a reminder of our humanness. It’s through this practice of working with ourselves, listening to what our bodies tell us, accepting present limitations and defying our own expectations that we become closer with ourselves and in turn, more accepting of and connected to the world around us.
I was raised in Boulder, Colorado where I began practicing yoga daily before going to high school each morning. Upon moving to NYC I relied on my Bhakti practice while taking classes in dance and somatic movement at the New School. After graduating from Berklee College of Music and establishing a home-base in Los Angeles, I became a RYT-200 at One Down Dog! As someone who struggles to stay connected to my own body, yoga is my most precious resource. My practice and my teaching have both led me through periods of recovery and I feel honored to channel these experiences through my work in addiction and eating disorder recovery centers as well as with athletes, preparing for and recovering from races and events. This work guides my somatic and trauma-informed approach to teaching. I hold space for students to perceive and care for their bodies on their own terms, as my teachers have for me. Alongside yoga I am passionate about songwriting, marathoning, pole dancing, art of all varieties, event planning and community!
