day 14 – the start

Nov 5th, 2012 jessica Blog

day14
Starting is not easy; often times it is the hardest thing to do.  It is full of uncertainty, requires getting comfortable with the not so comfy stuff, putting yourself out there and taking a risk. As I reflect on these 30 years of living I think of how many ideas, dreams and goals have gone unrealized because the idea of starting was just too overwhelming. The lists just pile up and then sit there, waiting. I am an idea person, not a follow through person.

NO.

Scratch that

I am a creative idea person with excellent follow through skills that gets shit done and does them well.  #30daysto30 :)

The first step in getting started is letting go of old stories, preconceived ideas about ourselves that prevent us from truly living. Because that one time, back when we were _ years old, we tried something and failed we hold ourselves hostage for years. Doesn’t make any sense, and yet I know I do it all the time. Or rather, I did :P

The next step is motivation – putting some wind into our sails.
Here are some "get your booty into gear" inspiring quotes:

The biggest mistake you can ever make, is being too afraid to make one.

If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.  ― Lewis Carroll

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing. – Walt Disney

Small opportunities are often the beginning of great enterprises. – Demosthenes

A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step. - Lao Tsu

Begin today. Declare out loud to the universe that you are willing to let go of struggle and eager to learn through joy.  - Sarah Ban Breathnach

There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth…not going all the way, and not starting. – Buddha

Do not wait until the conditions are perfect to begin. Beginning makes the conditions perfect. - Alan Cohen

The secret to living the life of your dreams is to start living the life of your dreams today, in every little way you possibly can. - Mike Dooley

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before beginning to improve the world.  - Anne Frank

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.  - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Life is not a dress rehearsal. Stop practicing what you're going to do and just go do it. In one bold stroke you can transform today.  - Marilyn Grey

SO HERE'S THE PLAN:

Stop worrying and driving myself nuts waiting for all the answers, for perfection, and for the end result to be clear. Start now, do it NOW. Stop waiting for the right moment, the right circumstances, the right people.  Start doing the next right thing where I am, with what I have in this moment. Stop getting in the way of the flow of the universe. Start breathing, opening up and being willing to allow possibility to present itself. Stop making life miserable and unbearable with judgment, self-loathing and fear. Start having fun, finding joy and celebrating even the smallest of successes.  Make awesome happen… One Down Dog at a time.

Today I am going to send an email with a proposal to make a dream of mine come true. It doesn’t look exactly how I thought it would. It might not happen right away. It might not happen at all. It won’t be perfect, it will take a lot of effort, it will be just right for right now. It is a step.

one  step   forward.

In the words of Seth Godin, “You might not end up with perfect, but it's significantly more valuable than being stuck.”
