Based on the idea that pregnancy is not an injury, this training aims to dispel some of the fear surrounding the very normal processes of pregnancy and birth. Let's ask the question “How can they do the pose?” rather than “What poses can’t they do?”
In the second weekend, we will dive deeper into the postpartum phase of life as well as spend more time focusing on anatomy of the core and pelvic floor; exploring how pregnancy and birth changes the body from the perspective of a movement practice.
WE'LL COVER
+ Specific yoga postures that can help address some of the common discomforts associated with pregnancy
+ The cultural context and history of pregnancy, birth and postpartum in the US
+ The process of pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum
+ How the physical and emotional bodies are affected during pregnancy and postpartum
+ The anatomy of the pelvis and core in relation to the yoga practice
+ A breakdown of various yoga postures and their modifications for pregnancy using the following primary principles: making space, stabilization/support, and body awareness.
+ Adjusting and modifying yoga asanas for common physical challenges before and after giving birth such as sciatica, pubic symphysis dysfunction, carpal tunnel, diastasis recti and pelvic floor dysfunction
This advanced training is for those who have completed 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.
