Yoga is such a great activity for runners to recover! It can help us stretch and strengthen our sore muscles. It can also help us improve range of motion and focus to show up better in our runs. In this community-building workshop, we'll start with a run around Echo Park Lake, then head back to the studio to move, breathe, give our legs some much-needed love, and connect with others who may be about to take on the challenge of a marathon, like the workshop's lead, Lani Engstrom, who was inspired to offer this to ODD's students after her own personal marathon journey – from the first that helped restore confidence after a bad breakup in 2023 to the third that helped discover better ways to restore the body after so many miles. Bonus: there will be a 15-minute guided massage ball roll-out to help nourish deep muscle tissue.
Although this workshop is designed to aid in endurance-run recovery, it is open to all with an interest in physical recovery after intense training. You don't need to bring anything besides yourself, loose / comfortable workout clothing, a mat, and your love of running!
After the workshop, each participant will be emailed a well-rounded weekly yoga plan designed to balance recovery and future training.
Cost: $55 *20% off for UL members applied at checkout
A little more about your teacher – from Lani Engstrom herself!
I've been hanging around ODD since 2016! Wasn't long before I started YTT in Summer of 2019 and now I've been teaching here almost 4 years. WOW! I've fallen in love with getting to be a bright spot in people's day and feel so grateful to have the ODD community when I need more radiance in my life! In addition to running, I love to sing and dance, go to the beach and watch Dodger baseball!
