It was a cold and rainy Saturday night in Los Angeles, but it was warm and welcoming inside the new One Down Dog yoga studio in Eagle Rock. Teachers, students, friends, and family, adorned in glowing accessories were gathering to shake their yogi boot-tays to some slammin' tunes in celebration of the grand opening of One Down Dog's second location. The studio buzzed with excitement. The large yoga room was packed mat-to-mat. Some of the teachers were pumping up the energy at the front of the room as they started to dance. Students excitedly chatted while stretching and warming up. The DJ was mixing some sexy foot stompin' jams. The scene was fabulous for yogis and yoginis on a Saturday night.

Raffle tickets were sold for awesome prizes that were valued up to about $300; Manduka mats, Onzie yoga apparel, Cotton Citizen clothing, One Down Dog class passes, in addition to other great prizes!

I quickly found a spot and laid my mat down, ready for a serious yoga dance combo. The yoga dance party was kicked off with soothing yoga flows. The flow sequences gradually increased with speed and challenge. Each teacher took turns guiding the room through a ten minute sequence that eventually led up to an intense free-style dance. Students began to sway back and forth and finally the room erupted! No one cared about staying on their mats any longer. We swarmed the studio in dance ecstasy, while we chanted along to the electronic beat…"Off, off with your head! Dance, dance till your dead! Heads will roll! Heads will roll! Heads will roll, on the floor!" The sweat poured down my face and pooled around my chest. Running, leaping, and boogie-ing all around.

The music started to slow down, which queued us back to our assigned mats. We were eased back into a nice yoga flow cool-down. Before I knew it, we were being guided into meditation and finally Savasana (final resting pose).

As soon as class was over, Jessica Rosen, the owner of One Down Dog, expressed her deep and genuine gratitude and love to everyone who is apart of the One Down Dog family. We are all excited to see the ODD yoga community grow and blossom. If you are reading this, you are apart of it too!

Please visit our new studio in Eagle Rock! If you have friends or family who live in the area, please let them know that we are here and ready for them to come yoga with us!
