Yoga is more than a pose and a physical practice. The connection of community and care is what lifts this practice up off the mat. Acts of service now build your Karma for the future.
In collaboration with Alleviate Skid Row, One Down Dog rallied donations and built care kits at our ODDgiving Community Event to hand out to individuals in downtown Los Angeles experiencing homelessness.
Donations of snacks, clean socks, warm clothes, and toiletries, poured in. In under 2 hours over 100 care kits of reusable bags were made. ::goosebumps::
Darvin Morales volunteered his time and talent to photograph the event! You can view the full gallery here.
The energy of the day was active, productive, and organized. Absolutely incredible how engaged each person was with the task all while enjoying each other.
Alleviate Skid Row then gathered with volunteers the following Sunday to distribute the care packs to those in need. If you feel called to volunteer- contact them! They are so kind, welcoming, and organized. We are SO VERY thankful for all that they do.
We're hosting a clothing swap with a local Mom's group on December 14th at our Eagle Rock location at 3pm if you'd like to donate clothing and come swap for more of your own. There will be a raffle and an auction to raise funds for a local mom going through cancer.
Any extra clothing will be donated to the Downtown Women's Center. It's a great way to cut down on the fast fashion impact, raise money for a woman in need, and connect with the community. Join us!
